They say that the best camera is the one you have with you. These days, that’s your smart phone. And if you want to communicate well on social media then videos are a great way of getting people’s attention. A tweet with a video is six times more likely to be retweeted than a tweet with just a still.
In the past, if your organisation wanted to make a promotional video, you’d have to hire a camera crew and a video editor to pull it all together. And then, six months from now, to update the film, you’d have to pay all over again.
Now, you have in your pocket a device that’s capable of shooting video material in high definition or even ultra HD. You can edit it right there on the phone and distribute it to your social media channels. All from the scene, without even returning to the office. Now you can get video material out to your audiences very quickly indeed and grab their attention, but only if you know what you’re doing.
Our introductory courses are suitable for anyone with a smart phone, even if they’ve never even opened the camera app before. We are experts at training people how to use either Apple iPhones or smart phones using the Android operating system. We’ve trained delegates with Samsung, Huwaei, Sony and Google Pixel phones, as well as the many different types of iPhone on the market. On the basic course we show you:
- how to shoot the best pictures
- how to record great sound
- how to use some inexpensive extra gear to get the best out of your smart phone
- how to stream live video from your smart phone
Everyone on the course shoots a short film. During the afternoon, we each edit our films so, by the end of the day, everyone has a completed 90 second piece of video with music and text.
We edit in iMovie on iPhones and CyberLink PowerDirector on Android. We liaise with delegates ahead of time to make sure they can access these apps, and that they have enough battery power and storage space to get the most out of the day.
We come to your workplace, and provide all the equipment you’ll need. Just bring your smart phone – and your imagination!
Advanced course with professional apps
For those who want to take their film-making to the next level, we also offer an advanced course. Again, we supply all the equipment you need, and we come to your workplace. You’ll learn how to:
- use professional apps to get more control over your filming (Filmic Pro) and editing (Kinemaster)
- use a range of microphones to record even better sound
- use a gimbal for better, smoother shots
- use lenses and lights
